How uneventful that the great Chilean poet

should succumb to the commonness of cancer.

Better to be romanticized for the drop of poison;

to have been murdered!  Assassinated! Remember,

this is the man who wrote:

“I left no one in peace

so they’ll grant me no peace.

That’s clear,

but it doesn’t matter––

they’ll be publishing my socks."
